Very, very expensive for a thing that manufactures 2/2s and 1/1s. No way would I put this into anything other than an Overrun or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa deck. I guess you're paying for the kick-ass name. Fable of Wolf and Owl sounds like it should make legendary tokens, not a bunch of weak wolves and birds.

Do I really need to say anything except for one word: expensive. If the cost was lowered down to three of four then it may have been playable in the current metagame. It still rocks however, in mulitplayer format.

The only issue with it is its cost. But you're playing green. You can fix that.

Shrieking Drake sounds like a good combo for Fable, producing 1/1 flyers for U each.

People overlooked the fact that Fable can be a win condition in a control deck, where playing it early isn't a necessity. Control decks also tend to have more cards in hand ready to cast, hence providing fuels for Fable to generate tokens.

Playing multi-color spells would net two tokens at once, which is good card advantage. Mystic Snake all of sudden becomes a Counterspell + three creatures.

Wow, am I seriously the first person to suggest using this in conjunction with Momir Vig, Simic Visionary?

I have a Simic EDH with Momir Vig as the General, and it's one of the more powerful EDH decks I have-
With this and Vig out, I cast a Slippery Bogle, getting two tokens and tutoring up a Murkfiend Liege,
which I then play for two more tokens and *another* tutor (usually a Clone for the Liege).
It becomes a truly vicious cycle once it's started.

Mystic Snake is also hilarious here- three creatures, a tutor, and a counter for 4 mana.
Then Vedalken Mastermind bounces the snake for another go.

Fable may be a "win more" card in normal decks, but in EDH, it can easily turn the tide in your favor.

This is almost always the first thing I search for with my Ethereal Usher in my Edric, Spymaster of Trest EDH. It just fits that deck so well on all levels, and few people will be offended if you attack them with a couple cute little bird tokens.
