Of course he is not as good as Primeval Orders, the unearth cost is really high, and for sure he is not the best pick in drafting either, but he is still a very playable card since you'll most likely find some nonbasics on your opponent's side, the unearth effect won't be countered in general and after all, he's still a 2/2 body for three mana.

This thing murdered a WUBRG dragon deck I had when in dropped in late game and finished me off. I guess thats what I get for not using basic lands.

This should murder in extended as well, as 90% of people are running either Artifact Land or Ravinca Block duals.

7 seems a little steep for the Unearth, but by that time you should be able to deal at least 4 damage with that ability.
