Well this is only useful when using a five color or a Jund deck. But this burn doesn't have a limit to how much damage you can dish out. X meaning you can pay anything limited to mana. Of course there is the threat of counters and prevention. Compare this with Flame wave

people who are rating this 4 and 5 are not looking at what it costs for the effect it has, the effect is AWESOME, the cost is prohibitive. if it had Land destruction tacked on as well it might be awesome, or if it were instant. lavalanche sounds like land destruction any way, and look at the art. destroy x lands would be too strong though maybe non-basic or 1/2 x

Good card, but kinda exspensive. I agree with DavidHuman. I'd still pick other stuff over it, though for a casul deck. You really need alot of mana to spare for this card, and casting it will most likly be ytour whole turn.

Nice alternative to Savage Twister in Multiplayer, EDH formats or when you have your own mini-army since you can avoid annoying all the people at the table.

The best thing about this card is the fact that it has green on its side.
Other board damage is good, though it targets you and your creatures,
But this bomb deems your opponent unworthy,
And your Llanowar Elves and Birds of Paradise nod their heads in agreement.

I used this is my Jund deck. A lot of people under-estimated how powerful it was; sometimes it would take out Ajani and his entire army.
