It's funny 'cause a lot of people are like "inferior to WoG, so it's no good".
Well, don't be so quick to judge.
I think either one is better than the other, situationally.
Maybe you have regenerating creatures, and want to have the board presence.
WoG would counter that, but this card would not.
And if your opponent had regen, and you did not, this card would be inferior to WoG.
Really, it's all situational.
Since Regen isn't the most popular key ability around, WoG would take the win most times anyway, just to cover bases.

@VirtueVsVice: I find your interpretation of the flavor text interesting. Be that I came to see something much different that you. Our main difference in opinion is that to me, "God" isn't being deemed as darker than Sorin. To me it wasn't a comparison. The way it moved me was that Sorin takes this "God" and all of his work seriously and that in that degree of seriousness there was no joy to be accounted for. That even for someone who smiles back at the face of death there's always someone who can make you wipe that grin off your face when they aim to be taken seriously. No, I didn't take it as "who's morally worse" but that Sorin realizes there's powers far beyond anyone's control that cannot be stoppep, even slowed for that matter.

@atemu1234

This isn't Wrath of God.

Thrun, the Last Troll, Cudgel Troll, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon, Molten-Tail Masticore, and a handful of other creatures in Standard all can survive this where Wrath, they cannot.

Sure they are similar in both effect and mana cost, but there is a distinct difference between the two spells. I do agree that functional reprints (Grizzly Bears/Barbary Apes/Balduvian Bears/Bear Cub/Forest Bear/Cylian Elf/Runeclaw Bear being one of the best examples) are really annoying, even if flavor is the motive behind it.

Good card, as in constructed worthy, but Wrath of God it is not.

I think this is worse than WOG. Wrath of God has always been a spell that you use to wipe the board and then play something really great... playing this and then waste mana to regenerate river boa sounds ridiculous to me... 3/5
