4 mana for a 3/3 lifelink & unleash would be utterly insane in limited for an uncommon... No one would give a second thought to unleashing him. He doesn't need to block if he's already bringing in 4 life a turn. And swinging for 4. That's a potential 8 life difference each turn.
I am confused as to why this has lifelink, though... Perhaps they thought 3/3 unleash & haste would be too strong and had to change it last minute?

Although the flavor doesn't make too much sense to me yet either, pros like me have to admit that haste and lifelink are a pretty sweet combo.

Sucks. By the time you have 5 mana to cast him, haste doesn't matter. 4 mana for a 3/3 lifelink/unleash and he would be worthwhile.

Is it just me or does this seem like it's be a reasonably competitive Standard card, if it were different colors, Boros or maybe Gruul?
