Becomes very interesting with a card to animates your lands (and turns them green) such as Ambush Commander. A deck with 40-ish forests, acceleration like Exploration and Burgeoning, a set of Earth Surge and then a few ways to animate your forests would benefit very nicely from a Verdant Succession in play.

Enchant an opponent with Wheel of Sun and Moon or hit what you don't want coming back with Surgical Extraction.
Funny enough, with only a single legendary eldrazi it'll keep grabbing the same one if you organize the triggers :)
This doesn't work with the creatures (such as Darksteel Colossus) however, because they never hit the graveyard, missing the "dies" trigger.
