Unfortunately, he won't interact that well with Rancor on enemy creatures. Since his ability triggers on cast, it will go on the stack before the enchantment ETB. If the targeted creature then dies from the -2/-2 the enchantment will then be countered for not having a valid target. Rancor won't return to your hand in that situation.
That said, I'm still playing around with this guy. He has a decent body and the ability seems like it should useful with the right build. Though, depending what you're playing against, turn 5 is often a bit too late for -2/-2 to be a significant source of relevant removal.
