Leonin Battlemage Thousand-year elixir or something else that untaps regularly (I think of the infinity combos Cathodian + Despotic scepter + Order of Whiteclay - the order taps by arming Hankyu) is the obvious way around the massive equip cost.

Its slow, but this can tap and kill things greater then 1 toughness on its own. The bow is better with deathtouch of course.
