If it had haste it would be more like a Seal of Cancel. As is, it's simply not good enough.

The thing is, it can be circumstantially better than a standard instant counterspell. If your deck is geared the right way you can use its creatureness to your advantage. any repeatable reanimate card (like volrath's stronghold) and you can use it over and over. Although I would think something like Mystic Snake would do a better job but redundant spells help consistency.

YES! A prepaid counterspell to protect my win condition spell from counterspells? Now my GU Overrun deck won't be one Mana Leak away from total failure on turn four or five. If I don't need it, it's an extra body to boost.

I can see how a regular counterspell will be better than this in a lot of cases, but this is actually exactly what I came looking for, so this card should exist.

With Soul Collector/viridian longbow combo out and anything that can pump the toughness one more, you can ping it, counter said spell, and get it back over and over... don't know if its really worth doing competitively, but its fun... if of course you are the evil bastard of your group.

I love reanimating Sun Titan, pulling out my entombed Lightning Greaves and then finishing it off by bringing back daring apprentice and equipping the greaves to him post combat.

So Buried Alive, Entomb, Reanimate. 3 card combo, faster with rituals. Pulled it off plenty of times.
