Brutal. I'm a fan of Nightveil Specter which is sort of a cheaper version of this (both in cmc and $$). Anything unblockable makes my day.

This would go great in a Modern Cipher deck. The fact that it's unblockable, in the right colors, and has a great triggered ability without having something ciphered on it...I think I'll make a deck with this now.

Since there have been a couple posts about it: Playing two dark rituals and then this is a bad move.
You played a Swamp, Dark Ritual, Dark Ritual, Ghastlord. Three spells are on the line here. if you get countered with Force of Will or Daze or your opponent just Murders or Swords to Plowshares your ghastlord you have lost the game. I am not saying you may not have fun doing this (Though dark ritual is one of those cards many casual tables look down on) just that it isn't really a great move tactically. Ghastlord is pretty powerful, just not powerful enough to put all your eggs in one basket for. He isn't even that powerful as far as the Spirit Avatar cycle is concerned.

I immediately scrolled to the bottom to state that i'm going to bring it to the forums attention how sweet this card is in Devotion decks. but I should probably see if my statement is a broken record. and i'm sure it is. please hold on i will now scroll up to count any similar post ............ hhmm 0 and the 14 of you that will eventually read my post are welcome for the knowledge.
