The only ultimatum that sucks in EDH.

Well...unless you want more lands.

@PhyrexianAdvocate I actually disagree with you a little bit there. This can actually be very nice in an EDH if you use it right. The colors of bant are blue white and green. This would work as a very good deck thinning and mana ramping agent, especially if you do something like twincast it with an amulet of vigor on the field. You're effectively paying 10 mana to get 10 mana on the field, that is playable. You lose 10 pointless draws and give yourself a lot of breathing room to play whatever you want. (I usually go into a praetor's counsel, or blue sun with a reliquary tower out and watch as my friend shout various profanities at me:)

Plus, IT'S FREAKING CHEAP, a dollar or less to pull out my exalted creatures to pump up a jhessian infiltrator, Rhox War Monk, or anything else to leave a mark and this is a turn-around card right here.(I'm talking about the regular format of play now.)

4/5

I'd much rather prefer Doubling Chant over this any day. In addition to costing less, and being significantly more splashable, it's effect is not limited to only 5 targets, but as many as you want.
Also the creatures don't come into play tapped.

The only clear advantage this has over Doubling Chant is that it works with ANY permanents, not just creatures. Though i'm not sure how useful that is, seeing as most non-creature permanents (specifically, enchantments and Planeswalkers) don't have a any actual benefit for having multiples out.

Oh, look at that. My Sliver deck just happens to be green/white/blue, and it doesn't target, so it goes well with Crystalline Sliver. Nice. It's a bit of a win-more-card, and it's hella expensive, but still nice.

In most cases this card did seem underwhelming - even though it's a 5-for-1 that affects the battlefield - it *never* occurred to me to use it in a deck with Eternal Witness. Get the E-Wit out, and it becomes a 5-for-0 until you run out of E-Wits (and clone-type creatures ^_-). At 7 mana its expensive, but surely you'll be getting a land or two out each time you use it - and if not, you should be getting enough board presence to make your opponent sweat.

It pulls lands, it pulls your Exalted creatures, it pulls any of your handy dandy enchantments, it's just an overall useful card and I'm surprised it hasn't seen as much play, especially in my casual group.
Hmm...Maybe I'll build a Bant deck and go nuts.

Everything this card can do in Ally.dec, Genesis Wave can do better.

@DritzD27: You can't cascade with an Ultimatum'd Ardent Plea. Cascade requires you to cast the spell, and this just puts it onto the battlefield.

Lets see... I chose:

Sublime Archangel
Sublime Archangel
Silverblade Paladin
Sovereigns of Lost Alara
Ardent Plea (Cascading into a Fateful Hour Gather the Townsfolk)

Then I attack with my Knotvine Paladin (bonded with the Paladin) while putting an Eldrazi Con***ion out with the Sovereign.

(Eldrazi Conscr iption for those who are not familiar. Darn censor)

All in a token deck with about ten other creatures out and a Finest Hour.
Overkill? Yes.
Worth it? Totally.

EDIT: @Magnor_Criol Well spotted, didn't notice that at the time.
