Edit : works with Planeswalkers leaving you with mana to counter their counterspells.

Would this work as a counter to (non-creature) spells if done in response? A: No.

Super special awesome chocolaty fudge-covered mega ultra combo with Daxos of Meletis and Psychic Intrusion! Too bad it doesn't work with Ashiok. They put the card into play and can only use creature cards.
Wow, using they as a singular pronoun is awkward there... "Xe puts the card into play"? "E puts the card into play"? I think the accepted usage is "Ashiok puts the card into play."

I'm kind of split on this card. I wish it could name creatures. And I keep forgetting that it can't name creatures, and even judges are unfamiliar with this card, so they keep letting me get away with it at sanctioned events. I named Aetherling in a game at one event and didn't even realize the mistake until I had gone home hours later.
That said, it's a good card for the mirror match, and a way to stop Slaughter Games if you suspect your opponent will sideboard that in against you.
