This is not a bad card to pick up late in the pack in Limited. That and the art is the best thing this had going for it.

Exists to make choosing cards in draft easier, because even if you want this, it'll wheel.

Well, it's no Bellowing Tanglewurm.
Drawback-free evasive creatures this size are hard to find at common. In fact, the only other three were all blue:
Shoreline Ranger
Maze Glider
Prescient Chimera
White, blue, and black have plenty of evasive 3-power commons with less than 4 toughness. Red really only ever had... Bladetusk Boar. The 4 toughness might just be worth it here, to beat Canyon Minotaurs and most burn spells.
