To me, this little guy is way more appropriate than the existing vanilla-tacular Grizzly Bears. For something that's arguably one of the strongest non-magical creatures in the wild, 2/2 is a pretty low power/toughness. It makes more sense if its a young bear.

Also, he's freakin' adorable, which makes it somehow a ton more satisfying to make him swing at someone. "Aww, look at him mauling you. Who's a good face-ripping cutie? Who's a good face-ripping cutie?"

It's not as powerful as an adult Grizzly Bear, the flavor text clearly states that it has its mother's teeth to guard it, thus it is the mother who is as powerful as a Grizzly Bear.

haha chicks do play magic! (aww so cute comments)

Yea, how is this little scrub stronger then even a llanowar elf?

because hes the bait, thats how. His momma is the one who does the real damage. Never mess with a cub when the momma is right behind him duh!

Obviously Runeclaw Bear is weaker than this normal bear. Runeclaw Bear has magic imbued in its claws and it's a 2/2. This is a plain ol' baby bear and it's a 2/2

Attack with your bear cub and then stare at your opponent in horror as they block and kill it.
"You ruthless S.O.B! He just wanted to play!"

5/5 because it's too funny not to.
Imagine all the people on Gatherer trying to build good green decks and looking for the best green creatures.
This is one of them.

But seriously.

Gatherer works better in the Companion app!
