In a monster ramp deck, this could have a home.
Repeatable removal on an artifact, and it can serve as a win condition. You just need lots of mana to do it. Caged Sun, Gauntlets of Power, ect.

@ SirMalkin and Solstice-273.15: ironically, turning it into a creature (via March of the Machines, Sydri, Galvanic Genius, or what have you) is the best use of it, as you'll get way more mileage out of an 8/8 creature than anything the {T} ability can do. Sydri can even give it deathtouch and lifelink.
