@ laguuz
this was probably played over flame blast because of the card advantage. its a good beatstick, and to remove it it would take 2 removal cards. removal was so powerful that this pushed it into teh deck over flame blast. in reality, you were probably paying 6: target player discards removal. put a 4/4 dragon into play.

Hah. Unsummon doesn't rid you of this, just the token. Such wonderful design in a card.
@ Sironos:
If you can't beat 'em, join em. It's fun to play Jund in extended.

Flameblast was arguable better - if it stuck around. The problem was, Broodmate caused problems even if they had removal in hand, as they still had to deal with a 4/4 flier. Flameblast caused no problems if it was removed straight away.
Of course, then the Titans came along, and the three colors of Broodmate are all overshadowed by their respective Titans. =P

One of the better dragons in my opinion- a pair of 4/4 flyers for 6 mana, and seriously ripe for combos. Mimic Vat's an obvious, as is Parallel Lives (and the pair together... two temporary dragons, and a pair of permanent ones, all for 3 mana and a tapped artifact...)

@Eddie: Actually, you even get two temporary dragons, and for each of them, two permanent. Do the math.

Now there's entreat the angels. Which for 7 mana does what this does for 6. If you don't miracle it.
Still, that's in completely different colors. This still has its place.

Great with an Ogre Battledriver in play.
Pay 6, swing for 12.
Or Minion Reflector
Pay 2 more: three 4/4 dragons who stay and a 4/4 dragon who can swing

8 power for 6 mana. Talk about mana efficiency.
