Pretty versatile. In its simplest form, it's a more expensive Time Warp, though will also be cast when your opponent has full access to lands, allowing instant speed responses they may not have been able to afford on your turn. Getting more complex, you can allow them to draw their card and potentially have a land drop - then end the turn with a spell on the stack, thus allowing you to counter a spell and negate *some* of their turn. Heck, if they do something crazy at instant speed at the end of your turn, you can even use it as an expensive counter.

However, even though it's versatile, Time Warp is almost always going to be better. The reason getting an extra turn is good is because you get an extra card draw, land drop, combat phase and an extra use of activated abilities that are limited to once per turn. Time Stop can do this too, but for 1 more mana at a less opportune time. If you try and do one of the alternates with it, you're missing out on the other advantages over a straig... (see all)

Its a Time Warp with a Mindbreak Trap stapled on.
You could also end the turn after they swing, leaving them tapped and defenseless. This might be a case when casting during your first mainphase was a better choice.

Very often a counterspell stapled to a time walk (well, almost; they'll get to draw and untap, unless you cast this during their upkeep). Very nice.

Really the only reliable way to stop a big storm in it's tracks besides Flusterstorm

Gatherer works better in the Companion app!
