Honestly, I hate it when mtg makes a new card with the exact same ability as the old one at the same cost, I.E. The Wrath of God to this or Vicious Hunger to Sorin's thirst. Why don't they just reprint? Would save Gatherer some clutter.

If nobody in your play group uses regenerating creatures or any way of getting them, then this is actually strictly better than Wrath of God because it allows you to use more creatures that are capable of surviving it.

@atemu1234:

(One of) The reason(s) they don't re-print the cards is because Wizards wouldn't make as much money. If they would reprint this card into e.g. standard, then all the older prints would become legal aswell; i.e. old cards would be usable. With a new name on same effects they force you to buy new cards if you want to play the same effects in standard.

On the other hand it gives you two (or more) cards with the same effect to play in commander, which is great.

And last: As OmegaSerris said: WoG and DoJ are essentially not the same card due to the anti-regenerate effect.
