@amielzki Not really, as unless your opponent can deal with it right now, if he's top of your curve, then next turn you can immediately 6/6, simultaneously reducing the threat of every other creature. Then run out a 4-drop that should be able to handle the post-Infectstorm threats.
But he's certainly wobbly on the "demands scale":
1) Turning him into a 6/6 will nerf your other creatures significantly, at least against your opponent's next play
2) As a 4/4 for 6, he doesn't block well the turn you play him, so he's not great for saving you when you're losing
3) If you're going to straight activate him when you're at 8 mana, you have to hit 4 swamps, so he's in the "playing black? play more black" zone
But still, Phyrexian Demon. Is Nice. And one of those cards with lots of Johnny Applications.
