This card is so hard to go against if you have a red or white deck. It puts you on a 5 turn limit after it's played if you don't have an artifact creature to block T.T

Obviously Dismember is the best way to get rid of this guy, since against a dedicated Infect deck you're not going to care much about your life total. Also, Beast Within, for the same reason, the 3/3 Beast token isn't going to be as dangerous in a deck where they aren't gunning for your life total.

This guy would be almost a perfect counter to a legacy zoo deck but he needs only a tiny additional upgrade to do the job, and that's a P/T boost to handle the onslaught of Tarmogoyfs and Nactls.
Otherwise, he'll ignore Paths, Loam Lions, Kird Apes, Lightning Bolts and the like.

Of course, this means you NEED to pack some Unearths and Dark Rituals to keep this guy from being AWOL while you get pounded.

But otherwise this will almost entirely disable those pesky zoo decks since they lack both first strike and non-red/white removal. The problem is you're going to need something to buff your crusaders, and anything in the creature/enchantment realm IS very vulnerable to zoo shenanigans.

But it goes to show, a simple 3-drop zombie can outstrip a deck worth hundreds of dollars.

As others have said, this is pretty key for black infect.

Now that Phyrexia is old news, infect seems mostly forgotten, but I run a Black or Green infect deck and this guy is Christmas when I draw him. Infect remains one of my favorite mechanics, I have been playing poison decks for almost a decade and now I can actually compete. This guy is the most aggressive creature infect has. Like all infect creatures, he makes great use of equipment and creature buffing spells.

The way infect works, of course he is a bit too limited to use in other decks, but that is fine. If a card belongs in every deck, that is a problem. A well designed card has places it can excel, and this card excels enough to build a deck around.

@DarthParallax
Except it require 2 cards to make that tidehollow sculler. It also doesn't have infect (which may or may not be your strategy). If you look at it your way, this guy is MUCH better with a loxodon warhammer than tidehollow sculler.

Also, while it already takes 2 cards, it costs 5 mana to cast and equip the sword to the sculler.

Putting 2 swords on it does not make it like progenitus. If we could compare cards by just taking a pile of cards combined and comparing it with 1 card, then black lotus is worse than 4 lotus petals.

This card is amazing. I play a red-black mostly vampire legacy deck and though it's my only infect creature, it has still won me games. It can't be blocked by two colours, nearly immune to removal and it can take out those annoying white indestructibles with -1/-1 counters. In my opinion, this is a card worth considering for any deck that contains black.

@edgarpoeallen

I'm not sure on the official rules, but I would imagine that an indestructible creature is not killed by the damage, but rather the state based action of it having 0 toughness. Again not sure, but maybe this means that indestructible creatures dying to infect go to the graveyard after any other creatures dyin to lethal damage (which can make a difference in the order certain effects trigger).
