Well, if you tap 8 lands and act like the situation is really ominous for your opponent, and hardcast him, he combos really well with Laughing Hyena.
Try this: Hardcast him, your opponent is guaranteed to let him be if you 're not playing a combo deck (and if he actually does waste a kill spell on him, you have the advantage) and next turn, cast and equip him with Hedron Matrix.

It's okay guys! Don't panic! It may LOOK like a 1/1 for 8, but it is in fact a 2/2 for 3, OR a 1/1 for 4. Abuse of its outrageous cost aside, and the reasonable tactic of trying to make your opponent die laughing if you hard-summon it after making a big deal over tapping 8 lands, I get the odd feeling this was a test run of the concept of a card that's cheaper if you Morph it than if you Summon it... And the only thing they dared give it was an incredibly huge cost as a 'benefit'. And the comboers made it godly anyway.

With something like Heed the Mists, this guy can actually get you somewhere. Plus, he'll probably win you most of the clashes he's involved in. And at the very least, you can play him face down, since a 1/1 for 8 isn't what most of us would call eff-

I have this guy in my Donate deck. I use him with Puca's Mischief. In the last month playing this deck casually, here's the Egotist's best catches so far:
- Niv Mizzet
- Akroma
- Wurmcoil Engine
- Xathrid Demon
In this particular deck, the Egotist is a MVP. Think outside the box! I give him a decent 4.
