Is your teammate an opponent?

It's no Hymn, but this thing's pretty good. I agree, blightning is probably just as good. Three damage may not matter much, but the 3 for 1ness is just so good =)

Honestly probably one of the best discard effects for extended when extended went further back.

Strictly better than Mind Rot. However, it doesn't hold a candle to the obscene Hymn To Tourach.
However, it gets points for having a small chance at forced land discard.

Well, not "strictly" better than mind rot. Think of this: you paly a two-headed giant game. Your teammate wants to dump two creatures into his graveyard so he can reanimate him. If you have a mind rot, he can choose exactly which creatures to discard. With stupor, he might discard one creature he wants in his graveyard, and instead of the second creatuer maybe a land.

would it be better or worse if the abilities were the other way round?

I think it would have been better if discarded, then discarded randomly.
But, other than that, it's really flippin' good.

It's the half-Hymn, or the Rot-and-a-half

Yeah it would actually be better if the abilities are flipped.
