Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Sea Serpent.

The only good use I've found for this guy is in my Timesifter deck. He costs eight, which wins nearly all of the time, but also has morph, so I can actually play it in one form or another. Basically, it's Scornful Egotist 5-8.
Otherwise, yes, not very impressive.

This is in the blue Planar Chaos precon.
In playing some casual games, i discovered a delightful little nuance.
Attack while this guy is face down, then flip it.
You are now attacking with a 6/6.
Overall though, Islandhome always has and always will be terrible.

I tried to use it as a coaster for my tea, but it's too small. So I guess it isn't good for anything after all.

It costs way too much and it can only attack players with blue decks. Oh, did I mention that it costs too much? Really, if wizards was going to design a useful serpent, then it should have an extremely low mana cost. If this serpent cost three, then it would make more sense to keep him in a sideboard against other blue decks. But when your paying eight for a creature with no useful abilities that has defender most of the time, then your wasting an opportunity to play something useful, morph creature or not.

Um, momentary blink it when it is morphed? But there are so many better targets, even if you do turn one of there lands into an island.
