My friends and I have a disagreement about this card...does its effect stay there until it leaves play or is it just for the turn that it comes out on?

Her ability happens every turn even on your turn. But how does she effect cascade???????? I'm thinking the stack only allows one card too play but the controller gets to decied which spell gets off. Am I right????

@A3Kitsune:
According to what I heard, Canonist's effect keeps you from successfully casting more than one non-artifact spell. If the first one is countered, it wasn't successfully cast, so you can still play another spell.
Granted, it would be an extreme lockdown early in the game when mana output is low, but by the time your opponents have a decent amount of lands to use they'll be able to just play a cheap spell and then throw a big one down.

You say I can play only one land and cast only one spell each turn?
Well that's just dandy.

don't rope yourself together when you play this, like i saw a lot with inexperienced players throwing this in white weenie decks.

This is a pretty good sideboard card against storm. It prevenst them from going off and puts them on a clock.
