This guy can be a BOMB in limited especially with adventuring gear.
Constructed... eh not so much. Until Black gets some better landfall synergy than through artifacts I don't think this guy really has a place. Intimidate is nice, but it's dead if your opponent is going black or artifacts, where as pump still serves a purpose.

Forever overshadowed by steppe lynx and plated geopede. Who cares about evasion when you can have (with mandatory adventuring gear) a creature get a whooping +4/+4 each time you drop a land?

On top of that, at least according to google, Surrakar is a creature only existant in Magic.
To me that simply looks like a Demon.
Given that it's the only creature of that type by now i guess there are two possiblilities why Wizards designed this.
They either want to hint at a new more important creature type coming in future sets, or they felt just like getting some old-school feeling by printing a card à la "name defines creature type" scheme back then when it didn't really matter that much.

Pretty strong for black in Zendikar limited. A lot of the time its basically 2 for a 2/1 Fear which is pretty damn solid.
