4 stars. In this limited environment, you will most definitely be controlling a multicolored permanent, so his ability is almost always on after turn 3. The fact that he can be manipulated by that fact is negated by the fact that he is a simple two drop. A 2-drop 3 power first striker will rip up nearly anything an opponent plays until turn 3 in limited and is extremely useful. I'm not sure how viable he will be in constructed, but I know he is a fantastic limited card.

This is awesome in my exalted deck, enchanted with Steel of the Godhead. An enormous unblockable lifelinker when attacking.

Very underrated and powerful card, along with the other Blades. This may be the best one, next to Grixis Grimblade.

The blade cards are actually more broken then they might appear to be. Their commons, cheap, powerful, and cost efficient. Hhmmmm...perhaps I should build a deck with them and Knight of New Alara heh heh, just imagine that synergy.

I once managed to get Favor of the Overbeing, Shield of the Oversoul and Steel of the Godhead on this guy. Practical? No. Awesome? You better believe it.

@darkfury: I disagree. The unblockability provided by Steel puts your opponent on a 4 turn clock, and you're creating a 10 point difference in you and your opponent's life totals every turn with the lifelink ability. First Strike is still viable if you don't get the combo up and running before the late game and you're in need of a blocker: No one would want to run their creatures against a 5/4 first striker that gains you 5 life each time it blocks unless they have a Titan or equivalent on the field.
In terms of Pauper, the blade cycle combined with the "color matters"-auras of Shadowmoor and Eventide are boss.
