@lorendorky
It's very simple, really. Doran, the Siege Tower doesn't switch power and toughness, it simply causes creatures to a.ssign combat damage based on toughness instead of power. Therefore, if Doran is out and you attack with Fireboar, he will still switch to a 7/1 but only a.ssign 1 combat damage due to Doran's ability.

Underrated Card, Combine With Either Goblin Tunneller, Dwarven Warrior or Dwarven Nomad to make unblockable. Then enchant with Heroes Resolve and or Eland Umbra to give the Boar a nice offensive boost. Play with Deathless Angel to stop most spot removal. 4/5

Definetly a cool idea ,though 7/1 without trample ain't so good.

I know this should really go without saying, but don't try to clear the board of potential chump-blockers by casting Pyroclasm right before attacking. It won't end well for you.
Also, check out its creature type: Elemental Boar. Elemental. Motherf***ing. Boar.

@lorendorky: It'd be a 7/1 when it swings. handy for defending when Doran is out, but bad when swinging. Why would you run this in the same deck as Doran, anyhow?

Oh the noobs and the Umbras!!
6/15/2010 Effects that switch a creature's power and toughness are applied after every other effect that modifies that creature's power and toughness, no matter when they started to take effect. For example, if Valakut Fireboar's power and toughness are switched, then it gets +2/+0 until end of turn, it will be 7/3 that turn.
Taken right from the rulings, Distortion Strike would make him 2/7 before attack and 7/2 once he attacks, Eland Umbra makes it a 1/11 defender or 11/1 attacker, not 7/5.
Anyway, if you have a Goblin Tunneler down drop this guy, then next turn enchant him with an Umbra or two (after making him unblockable if they raise power too much) you can swing for up to 15.
Nope still not worth it.

You wouldn't attack into a full board. Wait for a clearing, hit for seven, and then sit back on it. It's not great, but it's more interesting.
