This guy is terrifying.... he makes a fantastic addition to vampire decks, since their all-out assault helps fuel his ability, which will allow them to drop bigger creatures as soon as possible.
I don't know if he will replace the Gatekeeper of Malakir or Vampire Nighthawk (both incredible cards), but for someone looking to make Eldrazzi work in their deck, this guy is a solid component.

You guys are boring. Let me show you how to black the Deck.
You see, we first start off by achieving Butcher of Malakir. Why? Because it's block, and life's funner in block. Then we acquire ourselves a Pawn. Why a Pawn? Because we're commenting on the card, and the tends to be in his combos.
Now, sacrifice a creature. Or kill it, whatever. How do you do this? Oh, black has ways (Bloodthrone or Viscera Seer work fine). Since you sacrificed a creature, Butcher's effect kicks. Since Butcher's effect comes into being, each opponent sacrifices a creature. You get an Eldrazi Spawn for each of these. You then sacrifice these tokens for mana. Are you going to use that mana? Who cares? Now everyone sacrifices that many creatures, because the Butcher said so. Now you get more tokens due to Pawn. If you're quite daft, reread this a few more times until it sinks in that you can repeat the process.
Now, go black and... (see all)

just in case some of you do not know. tokens when they are destroyed. they are not put into the graveyard. not even for a brief amount of time. so most of the time tokens cant activate the, 'when a creature you control is sent to the graveyard from the battlefield" effect.

Combo this with many Toughness 1 creatures, Pestilence Demon, and Doubling Season to generate many tokens when you use Pestilence Demon's ability.

Kind of reminds me Rotlung reanimator which my buddy plays and which proved to be quite powerful if you don't get rid of him quickly.
0/1 creature doesn't mean harm on its own, but the extra mana you get from them is cool. Hard to decide which one is better ('course, Pawn here is more universal as he makes tokens from any creature, regardless of type).

This little fella exudes combo, as I think we've established. The pawn + reassembling skeleton + phyrexian altar makes a nice engine. Throw in Butcher of Malakir for some infinite opponent sacrificing. Also quite fun with Shirei
