I always liked playing this on Ornithopter.

Ok in black aggro.

It falls to creature removal, yes. It falls to Mental Misstep, yes. There are better cards out there, yes. Despite all of that, though, this never fails to help me get the job done. I put it on a Black Knight and swing for 4 with first strike. I put it on a Vampire Nighthawk and swing for 4 in the air with lifelink. I put it on Vampire Lacerator and swing for 4 on turn 2. It's a great utility card.

Definitely looks a lot better in an Infect deck. Plague Stinger's damage tripled for one mana? Yes, please. Would also go great on a Phyrexian Crusader or, of course, a Blighted Agent.

Why is this rated higher than Deviant Glee?

works well with vampire nighthawk... but it also places an even larger target on his forehead

Deviant Glee and Predator's Gambit both outclass this, yet this is rated higher...

This card is best played @ 1st or 2nd turn with a good 1/1 or stronger creature.
Note; beefing up your critters in early game is almost always one of the best choices. My rating: 3.5/5 is because cards like Unsummon kills this and your possible tactic early game.

In draft/sealed limited in core sets few people are ever happy to see an unholy strengthened Black Knight on the other side of the board on turn 3. The day this card rates less than 3/5 is the day when we know that Wizards has finally power-inflated the game into oblivion.
