It's a great card to start off. 2 mana means it hits the table on your second turn, and there's likely not something on the battlefield that can stop it at that point. And at the very same time, you halt your opponent's progress of hurting you, because 2/2 stats are good enough for the first few turns. Damage dealing and damage prevention in one card, which is what a red/white combo's about.
After several turns it will probably be nothing more but a chump blocker or bait, but it has done its job already by then so that's fine.

Good P/T for converted casting cost. Good abilities and good in a 'Beast' tribal deck. A common to boot, nice card.

Decent card, I like the vigilance haste combo, you can play it attack with it and still block a creature the next turn.

In response to Eved, i understand your natural inclination to go with elvish warrior here. Elvish warrior does win in a one on one situation. What I really appreciate about Cerodon Yearling is its versatility. While the knights may have protection from a color, they are pretty much limited to your sideboard. Cerodon is useful whenever, and can be used in conjunction with other early game combos.
I also agree with AbyssalManZero. I would take vigilance over flying any day of the week.
