Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas turns it into a free 5/5 indestructible. What's not to like?

The most surprising thing about the comments are that people say they would be disappointed to get this. As if they open up 14 cards from a booster and this would be the only one they don't like. I like between zero and three of the cards I open in a booster. This wouldn't disappoint me any more than getting any of the other cards I will never use. How do you stay sane if you are disappointed every time you open a booster?!
I love how people complain that one with nothing is a rare. And then they make this card an uncommon, and people complain. Get over yourselves and a enjoy the cards that were designed for your psycographic profile without being upset by the cards that were not made for you. Opening up a trading card pack is like a treasure hunt. You don't get the rush of a great pack without opening packs you consider mediocre. If you only want great cards, stick to buying singles.

Ah, good. My Capricious Efreet was running out of Darksteel Pendants.

@RATZGobbler
Myr Welder gains no benefit by exiling this card. Darksteel Relic has a static ability that makes it indestructible. The Welder only gains activated abilities.
As for the uses of Darksteel Relic, I will be putting it in my deck with Shape Anew/Blightsteel colossus. It will replace Darksteel Axe and make the deck operate a full turn quicker. Very handy indeed.
I rate the card 3.5/5.

How has nobody commented on the blatant irony of this card? If you look closely, you'll notice that the ring of light over the circular relic forms the Phyrexian symbol. The last thing they can call their own is proudly supporting Phyrexia.

Erik's Random card 6/17/2011
We competed with the Community team for the Erik Friborg Memorial Cup. The community won decisively. If they had lost, the prize was a Darksteel Relic.
This is the story of how I traded Ken Nagle Darksteel Relic for several awesome rares.
I was the development lead for Mirrodin Besieged. Powers that be decided to change the time where MBS takes place in the story. It was moved a bit to the height of the war. This created some holes in the card set. We filled the holes in several ways, including my coming up with some cards and putting them in the file. I was thinking of what was the simplest possible Darksteel card, and came up with this. It was an abstract idea of what other Darksteel cards are made of.
However we were still several rares short. So I told Ken, the design lead of New Phyrexia, that my team was going to look through his set for some cards that we thought would work well in our set. It was the quickest way to solve our problems, ... (see all)
