Almost every charm cycle has been very well designed (The blue charm from Planar Chaos was the exception. Bleh.), and the Guild Charms are no exception. A bunch of handy abilities at a reasonable price, with epic art and flavor. Personally, I think I like Izzet's best, but that's just 'cause I like Izzet the best in general. Weird Science for the win.

This charm counters the other charms. Considering the format is going to be dominated by charms for the next couple months, and this is the one charm to rule them all, Izzet is placed in an incredibly powerful position.

Unlike Spell Pierce, which I already play as a four-of, this is almost never a dead card. Therfore, I might run this in addition to Spell Pierce in my classic Grixis Control. Elf decks and planeswalkers will hate me. If I ever find something worth discarding, like Sedraxis Specter, I might run that too. And because shocklands are getting cheaper, my Scalding Tarns will do a better job of fixing my mana from here on out.

Izzet is getting a solid charm as well. Charms are great for pros like me because we always choose the best ability for any given situation.

I want to love the Izzet Charm, after all, I do enjoy playing Izzet decks but it never seems to be what I need when I need it.

Mana Leak - my opponent has plenty of mana.
Creature Damage - my opponent's creature has four toughness.
Card Filter - I'm happy with every card in my hand except the damn Izzet charm.

Instead I wind up running two syncopates and two dangerous wagers.

I'd rather have a mana leak, a shock or a faithless looting.

Soft negate, creature only shock, or an instant speed faithless looting without flashback for 2. Not a fan of this one, but should be okay in BlueRed decks that want faithless looting.

Now I want a "Choose one or more" for 3CMC.
I'm greedy, screw me.
