Sadly enough, haven't seen this card before now.
I had no idea I wanted it so much.

Was this card given as a promo or something? because when i was starting magic almost everyone had a shiny version of it, including myself. So unless they printed a disproportionate amount of these shiny, then there must have been some sort of promo card to explain it. Unfortunately for that theory, the cards don't look any different from normal shiny cards, so maybe not... Still weird.

Even by modern standards he's a solid card. He's an absolutely obvious choice for removal because with any real pump he's a threat and if you slapped some infect on top of that... GG.

I play with it often, but I find many other stronger cards for even six mana. I don't want to diss this legendary card from the great urza's block. It is true that there are better today though.

I like this art better than the other art.
Awesome creature too. Next best thing to unblockable.

I love this card, my friend had a deck with them when he was first teaching me to play. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw Dolmen Gate. One of the first decks I custom made uses Thorn Elemental (and similar cards), Dolmen Gate, Blanchwood Armor, and Fireshrieker. It's still one of my most feared decks among my friends and almost always wins.

Where Scaled Wurm was my first haymaking fattie, Thorn elemental and Plated Slagwurm were my first good ones. They really drew me into this game.
