Banding is one of the greatest and most flavorful abilities in Magic. It was removed because too many stupid child-minded people complained about it's being too complex for their underdeveloped brains, just like big fatties' drawbacks, which weren't liked by players, or damage from painlands... Magic was more strategic and instructive with those things!

I gave this a 4/5 just because it could create ridiculous situations in casual today.

This is rare. Cooperation was common. I really wonder how the Ice Age designers borked rarity that bad...

And yeah, Banding WAS actually good, it was just really complicated and hard to remember all the various subrules to it. I admit it's a pretty cool idea, but it just needed to go for the health of the game.
