The greatest — and most expensive — card of all time!

I lost my fair share of these beautiful babies when everybody still played for ante. The good news was I could always trade a Shivan Dragon, any of the Moxen, a Time Walk, or even a Serra Angel or Sengir Vampire to get it back. Or, much more commonly, I'd just keep playing games against the player who won one and I'd soon enough win something he wanted back bad enough to trade one for one, like a Force of Nature, Gaia's Leige, or Aspect of Wolf! I remember buying two of them for $4 a piece, and everybody thought I was stone cold nuts for spending "so much" on a single card! :D I miss those simpler days (and ante!) and wish I'd known how much they'd eventually be worth... /tear

there is no way that yawgmoths will is better than black lotus.. in any way.. sure its a good card, great in some decks, but totally useless and ineffective in other deck types (as mentioned)
the lotus can speed up the blue-control deck by 3 turns potentially...
it can pull out a ball lightning or a savannah lions and a white knight or a hypnotic specter or heck... a metallic and muscle sliver (thats 2x 2/2 creatures)... on the first turn!
no other card gives this INSANE card advantage for 0 mana!
like syvanis says, black lotus stands alone... except maybe also the cheese stands alone

Sorry to all the naysayers out there but Black Lotus is the best card ever. Yawgmoth's Will is an excellent card, but still has it's limitations, it needs a graveyard to play. Black Lotus will make every deck that casts spell better. It puts you at a mana base of fourth turn on your first. Will is good because of it's abuse with Black Lotus and other broken cards. Lotus stands alone.

The word Lotus in magic has always been used for pure colored mana of any color, I mean, look at Lotus Petal, Lotus Guardian, and Lotus cobra. I wonder why Birds of Paradise is not called Lotus Birds. The thing is, If it is reprinted, it's price will go way down.

Every deck is better with four black lotus. 4 mana turn 1? 7? 10? 13 into turn one ulamog or kozilek?? Why the hell not?

Crevette72, at this point where cards are sold for three digits it becomes a bit more than just a game.
You can simply reprint the power nine that easily. If they did it for example as purchasable "From the Vault" set, they would have to decide between two wrong options: Either they sell it for a cheap price and old cards might lose a crucial part of their value, or they had to sell it for an insolently high prince to prevent that.
Even something in between like 300 bugs would be ridiculously cheap in comparison while as a new product with not even a dozen cards as such would be extremely excessive.
It's not that i would not love to see a remake of these cards, but this will at most likely happen in form of priceless promo cards.

This card is actually the second most expensive card to ever sell! I don't remember his name, but one of the guys that one Pro Championships one year had been given a card that WoTC made for him. He sold it a few years later because he was trying to open a business and needed the money. A man offered and paid, now you couldn't even guess, 17,000 dollars!!! Yes! Seventeen thousand!!! You heard that right! Can you believe that?? Now i'm not sure who it was but if you guys look it up, you'll find it! I'm not making this up!
