First to comment! Reminds me of wistful thinking... but less messing around with your opponents.

@ParallaxtheRevan: The pre-prints were from possible futures, not from confirmed-to-happen futures.

Modern Masters: Makiing the flavor of Time Spiral Block's Pre-Prints Even more confusing! >.<
EDIT: THIS card is not a pre-print, but MANY in this set are Reprints of Preprints!!!! Did they ever actually exist? o.o
YAY TIME PARADOXES!!! :D

A3Kitsune: Yes, I know that, but I don't think most people thought that "Modern Masters" was going to be the first time we 'saw' Tarmogoyf 'for real'. Many of these cards do not have a TRUE "Home" Block.
Also: I am responding to you, responding to the Revan of me. Revan means "Return" (usually of a vengeful sort, I think). So my Return came before me. YAY! MORE PARADOXES! ^_^

Every card in Time Spiral was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Careful Study and Catalog as is part of a cycle of instants with more powerful effects if played like sorceries (Haunting Hymn, Careful Consideration, Might of Old Krosa, Return to Dust, Sulfurous Blast)

I feel like this is better than the rating suggests. Compare it to Fact or Fiction. You dig 1 less card down and net 1 or 2 cards instead of 2-3 (occasionally 1 or 4, but thats rare), but you get to choose exactly how the hand/graveyard split happens. You can keep the best cards and ditch any 2-3 from your hand that need to be in the graveyard.
It may not be better, especially with that extra blue in the casting cost, but it is definitely closer than the rating implies.

I like how the flavor text is relevant to real life.
