This needed to happen since Essence is a bit too high to be playable in the formats where Slivers shine. He'll only be a 1-of in most cases, but you'll almost never be unhappy to see him. I do wish he was a 3/3, since his ability and rarity can support those stats better, but we can't have everything. 4 outta 5.

Worse version of Essence Sliver. The reason is that the Essence Sliver is beefier (and you don't need lifegain that early), and mostly because the Essence Slivers ability stacks. Play three of them, and gain three times as much life. Doesn't work with this guy.
Lifegain can be ok in multiplayer, but else doesn't fit that well to slivers. Unless you run a lot of slivers that have abilities that cost life. So... this guy is average. Dunno why they made him rare.
