I could maybe see this splashed into some sort of Soul Sisters build, maybe.
Personally, I like it because there are a lot of cheap lifegain effects. Turn four you can follow up a Rest for the Weary with this and have a 10/10.

I know people don't like pure lifegain, but this guy could definitely make it worthwhile to run some. Even healing salve would make him a 3-drop 5/5, which would definitely be a threat worth answering.

You can cast Congregate before this with just 3 creatures on the battlefield to get an 8/8 wurm for 6 mana. And that's just a basic, in-set combo.

nourishing shoal + big creature like worldspine worm on turn 2 play this guy and bam 16/16. You could give it haste too and it would pretty cool.

Too bad green's not big on lifegain these days. You could follow a Pelakka Wurm with it.

This + only 5 other creatures, including a single Rhox Faithmender + Well + Strionic Resonator = a 42/42 critter for a grand total of 4 mana.
Okay, it's a little fantasy combo-ish, but I do like playing the game of how big I can make the Wurm.
