If it were up to me, I'd rather have a Gilded Lotus over this in EDH, despite costing less (since colour usually matters more than colourless).
That being said, any and every deck can play this. There are reasons why Sol Ring's, despite their rarity and amount of reprints, are exceptionally valuable.

This is one of the cards in FTV: 20 that is reasonably powerful today. Since Gilded Lotus in M13 didn't break anything, I'd like to see a functional reprint of this in Standard.

I have loved this card since the 1600's.

A foil of this and Gilded Lotus for my EDH decks? Aww, Wizards, you shouldn't have!

Man, Manafacts are really just amazing. Gotta love the Dynamo.

I really wish I could vote in between 4.5 and 5.0....I feel this is solid 4.75-.8 but not 5.
I think the main reason this was picked, was that anything in a better league than THIS from URZA'S, would either:
a) have been in FtV: Relics
b) have been reprinted/promo'd somewhere else
c) be Reserved
d) be ....not very kind to put in the same box as Frikking Jace o.O
I mean I like this card, but I might just like Darksteel Ingot a little better and I KNOW I like Sol Ring more.
But, this card is almost worthy of the title, "Vault" :) It IS a multiple-mana-producer, just not a fast one. I also liked Ancient Tomb more. :P

I love this card.
I play it in my blue control deck with Isochron Scepter imprinting a counterspell.
Some people have tunnel vision and see that my lands are tapped out and forget that the scepter can be activated with colorless mana produced by the dynamo lol.

It still baffles me that it can just immediately tap and essentially costs . I have loved this card since the 90s.
