There's a pillar of smoke rising from the woods, not terribly exciting but considering their job it's something to point at.

It looks to me like he's pointing at the distant rising smoke, but the perspective is off. He should be pointing slightly more that-away. They're possibly observing a burning warning beacon or maybe just some random fire.
