A solid alternative to the gravedigger. Has the potential to become insane if they can't block him or kill him.

Is it a guy? Looks female to me, but it's hard to tell.

I find him to be quite useful in EDH. He's small enough that most people won't waste spot removal on him, but he's a source of infinite card advantage if he goes unchecked. Plus, there's always at least one player who doesn't run black or artifact creatures, so this guy gets through most of the time. I give him 4.5/5.

A little bit of repeatable creature recursion never hurt anyone.

Great with Korlash, Heir to Blackblade (if one copy is already on the battlefield) and Fleshbag Marauder. Search for two Swamp cards and put them into play tapped or each player sacrifices a creature... EVERY TURN! Of course, I'm assuming that Woebearer can successfully deal combat damage to a player, but that's not too hard since it has fear (I play a lot of casual multiplayer, so odds are at least one player isn't playing black or artifact creatures).
5/5

I made a cycle of 5 mono-color decks out of commons and uncommons as a gift for my friend's kids. They were basically slapped together with stuff from a Deckbuilder's Toolbox and random cards out of my collection. I threw one of these guys into the black deck without much thinking, because I thought it looked like an overcosted 5-mana dude, perfect for the little kids to take out once they grow older and wiser.
Holy crap, did I underestimate him. The first game I got him out during playtesting, he recurred a Fleshbag Marauder 4 times against the token-themed white deck. If White got out a pacifism, no problem; just play the Marauder again, sac Woebearer, then Zombify it. The blue deck was mill, so black won easily. Red could just bolt it, but if it couldn't, GG. Green couldn't do anything about him initially, until I added Prey Upon.
In short, against mono-color decks of commons and uncommons, this g... (see all)
