@sincleanser- You are correct that both White and Black have a full suite of removal spells, but as you alluded to they often have stipulations; in White they may need to be attacking or blocking, and in Black they may need to be non-black, and/or non-artifact. Unmake has no such restrictions, is an instant, and exiles. This is an extremely solid choice for monowhite, monoblack, or a deck that can resonably run both. Due to the 3 colored CMC, it may be a stretch to run this in an x/White, or x/Black deck.

@MRK1: the reason is reanimation

still, 4.5/5 for three mana removal, no questions asked. especially in white.
the only down side to this is the splash-ability and the potential to have protection from an additional color.
