I'd rather not beat around the bush, and use Mind Control instead. Not terrible though, could be nice if your deck relies on control effects.

At least it's less of a rules nightmare than licids.

It's still overcosted- especially since mind control does the same thing. At 4 mana, this would be much more playable.

It's not Better Than Mind Control, but it's decent. In spirit tribal, this guy can do a fair amount of damage before deciding to steal one of your opponent's creatures. It blocks weenies until your opponent drops something worth stealing, if that's your thing.

Edit: @StagemasterK,
I will just refer to Soul Seizer as SS, since that's a pain in the ass to type out.
His SS flipped into Ghastly Haunting, on your SS.
So now he controls your SS. He attacks you with your SS. Your SS flips over into Ghastly Haunting, and attaches to a creature you control. Ghastly haunting is not a valid subject for a creature enchantment, and his ghastly haunting falls off.
You now have your own ghastly haunting attached to your own creature. You control the ghastly haunting, and the underlying creature.

So yeah, his ghastly haunting would fall off, transform back, and go directly to the graveyard, leaving you with a redundant mind control on your own creature.

@StagemasterK
From DKA FAQs on Wizard's site specifically under Soul Seizer:
Transforming a permanent doesn't affect any Auras or Equipment attached to that permanent, provided they can still legally be attached to it. Similarly, any counters on the permanent will remain on that permanent after it transforms, even if those counters don't have any visible effect (for example, a +1/+1 counter on a noncreature permanent).

That bold line seems to imply what I've always known to happen with Auras. If the attached object is no longer the type that is on the first line of the Aura ("Enchant Creature/Land/Etc"), it is illegal and falls off (Goes to the owner's graveyard) just as if that object gained protection from a color of that Aura.

I don't think Judges should "throw their weight around" in games/events they are participating in. If an issue arises, the first thing out of their mouth shouldn't be "Trust me, I'm a judge." There is no way they can be impartial, no matter how... (see all)

Worse than mind control, expensive and fragile as a creature, I'm not a huge fan of this. Good flavor though.

Strictly limited fodder.

Poor in comparison to Mind Control or Corrupted Concience

part of me is like 'ooh!! Gothic horror flavor! neat!' when they show stuff like horrible demons and monstrous werewolves and junk.

and then I look back at some of the commons and think....'wow. all the bad stuff happens to the peasant girls. they're like Innistrad's drakes.'

ok so at the prerelease last night we were playing sealed. My opponent Soul Seized my Soul Seizer.
What happens when he attacks with my Soul Seizer and transforms it into an enchantment and his souls Seizer falls off?

He was a lvl 1 judge and said that because it was no longer a creature he didn't lose control of it, but to me it seems that if he'd soul Seized my Inkmoth Nexus and then it turned back into a land i would get the Nexus back.

Any thoughts?
