this isn't Baneslayer's little sister- this is the godmother of all Magic Angels. Class A card for balance. 5 mana is a tad much, but just the right weakness to keep it around for ever. 2WW for the exact same card would be a rare I'd love to get my hands on.
Baneslayer is Akroma's whiny beeitch LITTLE sister.

@greg2367: But it's an uncommon slot. WotC had to put an uncommon in that slot, otherwise it would mess up the rarity scheme. And while they can and do change a card's rarity, it's only in the actual sets, not special products like Commander, that the rarity of a card can be downgraded. Depending on how you feel about Magic Online, the Master's Editions are either exempt from that rule due to the cards not being physically printed, or they count as actual sets.

It's not like they're trolling us by putting serra angel in anything.
I mean, it could be a bad card instead. Like Alabaster Leech. Want to play a Commander deck with a Leech theme? No? What? Zedruu? Color identity? Aww, got me good.
Still. Serra angel works. And if you have too many, teach someone new to play and make them a free deck with cards like this. Cards that function just fine and have no cost to you.

Wizards- you're lame (YES i said it, LAME) for putting this in one of the decks. As if anyone wanted to see a Serra Angel in their commander deck. Completely a waste of a slot, as everyone and their mother has one and if they don't it costs nothing for one anyway. "But it's an angel it goes with the theme and it's a staple to the history of magic etc etc" No. No one wanted to see this reprinted for the 100th time and waste a slot.

@greg2367: Serra Angel is a classic and she's fantastic. I'm happy to see her reprinted; I'm happy to see her in commander decks and so are plenty of other people. If you don't like it, then deal with it.
I don't care that people think Serra Angel is unplayable these days. When she's reprinted in Modern Masters (she will be), I'll still be grabbing four of her and using her to beat the crap out of people that laugh at her. Still my favourite white card.
