I'd recommend SB Boseiju if you want to use this effectively. One of the best creatures to use it with might be Neither Traitor, thanks to haste, the ability to pop back, and shadow. Back up the deck with rituals, tendrils of corruption, duress/thoughtseize, etc. and you might be in luck.

A very good card. Many times read: pay almost your life: win the game.
As it can be countered after you paying the life it can be very disappointing when your opponent have a Force of Will or Cancel.
We know new players don't like having their spells countered. It is more disapointing when that spell takes the additional costs away!
If they change the additional costs rule to be payed always during resolution, the game would be funnier.

A tournament worthy card, to be sure. But it just doesn't appeal to me. How often are you going to get the turn two hatred on a carnophage play? DOUBLE Dark Ritual? That practically NEVER happens!! And what happens if your opponent counterspells this? You still lost 18 life!!

This card was responsible for the one truly epic tournament win i ever had.
Turn one: swamp, play Stone Throwing Devils
opponent plays an island.
turn two: attack, double dark ritual, hatred for +19/+0.

T1 play swamp, tap it and play 3 dark rituals, play manor skeleton, play hatred.

The chances of pulling it off are slim to none, but f*ck life if it happens.
