By a most wonderful of coincidences, this guy's name both refers to the original and recurring Maro mechanic and is a proper Ja panese name.

Maro is a recurring suffix for boys names, meaning something along the lines of 'me' or 'I'.

Transliterated; Kagemaro means approximately "Great One of the Sky".

I really like the name of this cycle. Not only do each of them have the name "Maro"(an homage to the progenitor of hand cards=power/toughness), but they also have a prefix attached that somewhat describes them. I only know the translation of 2 of them, but Sora, from Soramaro means Sky and Kage from Kagemaro means Shadow. Anyone else know enough about Japanese to translate?

@ Gwafa_Hazid:

I hope I'm right about this...
Kiyo - praise
Masu - grow (or mass)
Ada - revenge (or enemy)

This is pretty good for assisting landfall in a deck.

Say you have a Bloodghast on the field. Attack with it, hope it dies, then just play Soramaro's ability and play that land again and bring him back for more action.

I don't think it can attack again, but whatever, you still have a chump-blocker.

When he moves to his new place, Reliquary Tower, he will definitely forgot having ever read in a Spellbook! :)

Superb Finisher for blue controll in general, and lockdown decks in particular.

@PhyrexianEditior

Not if you play a giant handsize EDH deck. Splashed in any deck he's not that good, but play enter the infinite and you're swinging with a 70/70 or whatever you have left in your deck. Also, his ability works well with landfall.

@Ferlord

Unfortunately Bloodghast can't attack again if you bring him back, because you only get one combat step per turn, and he can't block because of his first ability.

But you are right about it being a decent landfall enabler.
