This card is very unique being the only Artifact with unearth, just like Ethercaste Knight is the only Artifact with Exalted. It's just not as good.

Best played with Etherium Sculptors to cheapen the cost. In an esper deck, it's not that hard to get this out for only 2 mana, at which point it's not a bad card. Also, although there's better things you could transmute, Master Transmuter can make it essentially cost 0 mana, if you run Spellbook. Ugly on its own, much more attractive with help from its buddies. And after it dies, the unearth cost isn't that bad. Remember, artifacts work best as components of strategies, not as standalone tactics.

Part of a cycle of two-shard creatures. List cuz I'm cool like that.

Kathari Bomber-Jund/Grixis-Goblin tokens and unearth

Etherium Abomination-Grixis/Esper-Unearth on an artifact creature

Ethercaste Knight-Esper/Bant-Artifact creature with Exalted

Sigiled Behemoth-Bant/Naya-Exalted on a creature with a power of five

Godtracker of Jund-Naya/Jund-"power 5+" ability, and dragons. I feel Gorger Wurm might have been better (Power of 5 and has devour) but Godtracker's flavor text fits the cycle.

@DALucaray: Actually, Gorger Wurm is part of the cycle. It's a power 5 creature with devour.

I just realized. This card is unique in that it belongs in both Grixis and Esper. Just like Ethercaste Knight is Esper/Bant. These ones are just obvious because they're artifacts with the respective keywords. Help me find the others!

Card wise, it's on the low end, but certainly not terrible. He's no Scathe Zombies, is what I'm saying here. He has merit.

Now, even if it was a little better, I still wouldn't play it- bad art just makes me so very sad.
