This is great for causing favorable trades for small creatures in an aggressive deck. The problem with this, however, is that in an aggressive deck you'll be wanting to fill your two-mana slot with more aggressive creatures, not things like this. It's a nice thought, though.

It's very useful for free-for-all games, though. Not only can you prevent players from attacking you (since they can do more damage attacking someone else), you can use it to turn the tide of combat that doesn't involve your creatures in your favor. You can often reverse the effects of first-strike creatures, such as healing a Memnite so it kills a Deft Duelist rather than the other way around, leaving your opponents with the less dangerous of the two cards in play.

Well, I guess it's better than Samite Healer.

Works well in draft, especially if you're facing a lot of infect decks. In my case I did not play against any infect, but it still kept me alive until my better stuff could come into play.

The second effect would be really good in an artifact deck. 3/5.

Anyone else notice that this is basically an anti-Prodigal Pyromancer/Cunning Sparkmage?

Infect means that damage prevention is more useful than usual.

This does Argivian Blacksmith, Elvish Healer/Kitsune Healer style.

Those who say it will see no constructed play are dead wrong. This thing keeps Metalcraft advantage up by keeping Myr from getting Burned, and negates those annoying Cunning Sparkmages and Prodigal Pyromancers. Multiples of these can get VERY aggravating. Trust me, I got ruined by two of these and a Steel Hellkite In a recent draft.

Never underestimate the power of preventing 1 damage to a creature. I always make sure i use my x spells for 1 (2 if i have the mana) over the needed payment for hitting creatures so stuff like this cant pop up from nowhere and foil me.

Damage prevention was always bit of underrated in limited.
And this holy kitty can be pretty useful in both draft and sealed. Considerably slows infect, which is often more than enough to grab the victory.

This is pretty good in a Heavy artifact myr deck. Stoped them from burning my Myr Smith several times. Not as bad as it seems.
