Nothing like 1d6 damage per level. (You D&D geeks know what I'm talking about.)

Banefire is almost always better for direct damage seeing as it can't be countered, but I can see how this could be useful if you want to take out multiple small creatures.

A solid direct damage card. A nice game finisher late in the game. Red's direct damage plays an even more important role by keeping the planeswalkers at bay.

You know, theoretically this is a better, more flexible card than Banefire (option to kill more than one wimpy creature with one spell). Theoretically, it should be a better idea to mainboard this card, and then sideboard in Banefire if you're going up against a counter deck or damage-prevention deck.

Although the "rounded down" part really hurts this card, if you have odd-numbered amounts of land in play (5, 7...).

Volcanic Geyser is another amazing one like that... I like the thought of playing a blaze on opponents turn just before playing a blaze on my turn.

I always found it confusing to figure out how much mana to pay for it quickly, but then I discovered a nice trick:

First, figure out how much damage you want to do to each target (say for example, 3).
Then, add one to that number (so, it will cost 4 mana per target).
Multiply this by the number of targets, and that's how much you have to pay (one of which must be red).

:)

Very costly in Multiplayer games, but other than that, very excellent.

Dont bother divide the damage, just throw a huge Fireball in ur opponent and see him/her screaming in agony...
