I use this in casual with Knight of the Reliquary. He steadily boosts himself by searching out fetchlands, usually resulting in a +9/+9 boost for all my critters.

*sigh* This card is amazing. My friend had this in an Elf tribal deck, with Ambush Commander and Timberwatch Elf. We calculated tha he could do about 2000 damage in one attack, without even having all of his creatures out.

With the renewed Infect mechanics, this card becomes really dangerous!

I'm sure I won't be the first to say this, but I prefer overrun. Overrun is all about making your swarm of little creatures (probably 1/1 tokens) lethal. Stampede requires me to have a big creature and a lot of creatures to be effective. Not that this is a bad card.

Wizards isn't saying ANYTHING about Overrun by printing this card. Anyone who reads Mark Rosewater's articles will know that the designers simply like to change things up from time to time. Every time a new core set is released, certain cards get 'rotated out' temporarily, to allow space for new cards, or the return of old ones. This makes the game more exiting by keeping you on your toes.

I like Overrun, but this spell is interesting too, because it is so green. Rather than have a relatively arbitrary +3/+3 effect, this spell relies on the power of your creatures to amplify an effect that benefits your creatures. What could be more green than that? It also helps you get much more out of staple core set cards like Giant Growth.

Overrun was good for its own reasons though. It was much simpler to understand. Not that Overwhelming Stampede is much of a headache, but Overrun is alot simpler to use.

It's just another take on Overrun. It can be good for creature swarms, such as one, say, headed by a Grave Titan or a Might Sliver, but not so good when it comes to token swarms or a bunch of weenies. There are pros and cons, and decks using this will be very different from decks using Overrun.

Use this with the paired Wolfir Silverheart and Silverblade Paladin and swing for 60 trample in five turns (assuming you're a land drop ahead which isn't that farfetched in green.)

@Donovan_Fabian: Sounds like you're reaching. This card is better than Overrun the same way Primal Bellow/Might of the Masses is better than Giant Growth - not strictly better, but better in almost all situations.

It's not like it's hard to swing for >20 on turn 4 with this either. Turn 1: Elves, turn 2: Leatherback, turn 3: Kozilek's Predator, turn 4: Overwhelming Stampede. And that's one of many examples, since this card rewards having either more creatures OR stronger creatures. Versatility is what makes this card so much more appealing than Overrun - if you only have a couple creatures out, as long as one has decent power (3-4) you can throw down a Giant Growth and get the essential killing power you need. That's not card disadvantage any more than throwing down that ext... (see all)
